Mesra Alam Sekitar keeps emission monitoring at more than 200 Malaysian facilities clean, compliant and connected — from analysers on the stack to data arriving at the DOE. Spend your placement with the team that does it, and you'll leave with field experience most graduates only read about.

Not a photocopy-and-filing internship

From your first week you work beside our technicians and engineers on live Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS) — the instruments that measure what comes out of industrial stacks and report it to the regulator. You'll be on real installations, calibrations and maintenance visits, handling real instruments, not watching from a desk. When you finish, you'll have done things you can point to.

What you could get your hands on

• Calibrating and testing industrial instrumentation that measures dust, gas, flow, pressure and temperature on operating plants.
• Preventive maintenance visits — cleaning, checking and adjusting analysers before small faults become failures.
• Helping commission new metering and recording devices, and tracing signals through telemetry that sends data to the DOE's iRemote system.
• Reading wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings, then seeing exactly how they map to the equipment in front of you.
• Keeping accurate records and writing up what was done — because in emissions work, the paperwork is the compliance.

Where you spend your time depends on your course and what's live on our schedule, but every intern gets real fieldwork, not a corner to sit in.

Who does well here

We can teach instrumentation. What we look for first is character — because our clients trust us with numbers that regulators act on, and a stack is no place for someone who cuts corners. The interns who thrive with us tend to be:

• Honest to the decimal. Emission data has to be true. We value people who record what actually happened, own their mistakes, and never "adjust" a reading to make it look right.
• Reliable. Turn up on time, ready to work, and follow through. On a maintenance run, the team is counting on you.
• Safety-minded. We work at height, outdoors and around live plant. Careful beats fast, every time.
• Curious. The ones who ask "why does it read that?" learn the fastest and are the most fun to teach.
• Willing to get on the ladder. This is hands-on, sometimes hot, sometimes high-up work. If that sounds good rather than off-putting, you'll fit right in.

Who it's for

We welcome industrial-training and internship placements from Malaysian polytechnics, vocational and technical institutions (ILP, ADTEC, GiatMARA, community colleges) and universities — especially students in:

• Instrumentation & control engineering
• Electrical & electronic engineering
• Mechatronics
• Environmental technology or engineering
• Chemical or process engineering

A Class D driving licence and a willingness to travel to client sites are a plus, but not a requirement to apply.

The practical details

• Based at: C-3A-09 Centum @ Oasis Corporate Park, Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor — with field visits to client sites nationwide.
• Duration: flexible to your institution's requirement — typically 12 to 24 weeks.
• Intake: rolling; we take a small number of interns at a time so each gets proper attention.
• Allowance: a monthly training allowance is provided — details on enquiry.
